Actually, the ski lift weight limits are pretty high. The real issue is the distribution of weight on the chair. But yeah, equipment does need to be weight-appropriate.

Heavier people needing longer skis just sounds like a way to charge them more for rentals. I bet it barely makes a difference.

I’m not sure I agree with the section on overall fitness. Plenty of skiers aren’t in ‘peak condition’ but still ski without issues. Isn’t skiing more about technique?

Interesting article, Jonathan Holmes. I’ve seen plenty of heavier skiers perform excellently on slopes. It’s all about finding the right gear and being mindful of your body’s capabilities. Kudos for bringing attention to this!
