My company rents dozens of Cruise America vehicles for upscale customers for whom we organize turnkey RV trips to the national parks. If you stick mainly to their company-owned stores in major locations, their quality is pretty good. They have improved substantially in recent years. But there are other players that target more discerning customers and run more upscale, modern fleets. Take a look at Road Bear, for instance. They operate all current model year vehicles from leading manufacturers that include bells & whistles like awnings and slides.
